I created these wall murals in a psychiatric hospital for pre-adolescents ages 5-11. The kids asked the staff if they could watch me paint which surprised the staff and me. I couldn't of had a better audience. They made sure to let me know if I missed something. The children sat there quietly talking and laughing with me as I painted them on the wall. Children are wonderful and the staff said that they had never seen them maintain interest in something for several hours. It came time for lunch and they did not want to go. I decided to let them help paint the trees and they wanted me to outline the trees so they could paint inside the lines. With team work we created this wonderful wall mural for many kids to enjoy. Art is a wonderful way to communicate with children of all ages. The adolescents wanted me to do something more age appropriate for them. They all made drawings of what they wanted and with their help we made their mural together.
